Yes, it is sad.

Locally, McDonald’s pays $17 an hour. That’s about $35K annually (before taxes) for serving burgers and fries. A private earns about $20K annually; all they have to do is put their lives on the line. If you think I’m kidding, I have some people I’d like you to meet at Arlington National Cemetery.
