When we first began the journey of living in an RV full-time we had no idea what would work for us and what wouldn’t. The idea of staying in the driveways of people across the country sounded fun.

Our first journey at the end of April 2022 was to get to the state of Washington to see our oldest son and his family. The trip there took us six days and we had no idea how far we could drive in one day. Rich didn’t want me to schedule or plan a place, and then not be able to make it there.

Our first night was in a rest area. Then we got a campground for one night, and so on. We made it to Washington and campgrounds were pretty full for the month of May already so we could only stay for a week at a time.

Through that whole six-week experience we discovered that it was too much work for him to set up and tear down so often. Our first RV did not have electric jacks and he had to manually crawl under it and set them up each time.

By staying in one place for a month, we get the cheaper monthly rates, and it is more relaxing for him. That gives us enough time to completely explore an area and just live there, see everything there is to see, meet some people, and enjoy it.
