Well Crap…I Tore It Again

And it will never be the same

I’m talking about my knee. My right knee to be exact.

Four years ago I slipped in the shower and snapped my right knee in half. No, literally — sideways. Ouch.

I tore the MCL (medial collateral ligament) the ACL (anterior collateral ligament), the medial meniscus and the lateral meniscus, and dislocated the bones. There were bone chips where the ligaments tore away, but no actual broken bones that time. I had to have surgery needless to say.

It was six long months of healing and it never healed right. Endless physical therapy visits and pain. There is pain every day in the bottom half of my leg. The skin is still numb from damaged nerves. It hurts just to touch the leg or bump it.

But I could walk. Always with a limp. But I could walk.

After four years I still could not get on my hands and knees. (Not even in bed on a soft…
