From Del Rio to Marathon, Texas

Highway 90 across southern Texas from Del Rio to Marathon is a nice drive. The road is in great condition. We didn’t lose any cookies on this drive. Sometimes the road is so bumpy Rich hollers out at random times, “Hold onto your cookies!”

Traffic was minimal today. There are no rest areas on Highway 90 but there are pull off areas with a picnic table or two where you can at least stop. The view was beautiful traveling this highway, and today even more so with the ice storm. Hills began to appear and turn into small mountains with canyons are either side.

Shortly after Del Rio heading west there is one border patrol checkpoint. We have gone through several of these now being in southern Texas so close to the border.

Be warned that gas stations and towns are few and far between. Get gas when you can. There is no civilization on this highway.
