We camped at Elkhart RV Resort by Rjourney in Granger, Indiana for a week and explored the lighthouses along the southeastern shore of Lake Michigan.

The first day we drove north to Grand Haven away from the shore and went through the towns of Cassopolis, Decatur, Paw Paw, Allegan, Holland, and Grand Haven before finally arriving at Grand Haven Fisherman’s Pier. We parked in the North Shore Fisherman’s Lot and walked along the path.

Across the waterway was Grand Haven State Park and a long pier out to the South Pierhead Lighthouse built in 1839. If you don’t want to pay to get in the State Park, it is a gorgeous view from this side. Out of staters usually pay $11 for one day entrance into a Michigan State Park, but you can purchase a whole year for only $33. So it is definitely a bargain if you plan to visit more than three state parks.
