The original End of the Trail bronze sculpture was created by James Earle Fraser in 1918. It shows a weary Native American man hanging limp on his horse, which is also weary. A bold reminder of the damage inflicted upon the Native Americans when European settlers took over the lands. The original statue is now on display at The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK.

This one we found while driving along The Texas Mountain Trail — Highway 170 in Big Bend Ranch State Park. I snapped several photos as we drove by and this one was the best. There was no place to stop or pull off. Because of the fence I think it was on private land.
