Our RV is currently parked at Lake Rousseau RV Resort in between Dunnellon and Crystal River, Florida. It is beautiful here. We were given a prime spot because a permanent resident of nearly 25 years left the spot empty this year. I called at the right time as the owner was trying to decide what to do with the spot and we told him we would take it for one month.

The neighbors have been welcoming, and each one of them praises the spot and the view and asks how we got so lucky.

The spot is quiet and peaceful, looking directly at the cove under lots of shade trees. Everything an RV owner would want when staying in Florida for a month, right? But maybe not so much. The shade trees are Bald Cypress. It is December and the Bald Cypress trees in Florida are still shedding their needles for the winter.

Good

Bald Cypress trees are emblematic and found throughout the state of Florida. They are massive and can grow as tall as 150 feet with some getting trunks as wide as six feet in diameter. The ones we are parked under must be at least 70 feet tall if not more. I looked them up on Google and found out that they are believed to be the largest tree in North America east of the Rockies.
