Learning to Trim the Dogs Nails Myself

Even if it kills them

Before moving into the RV full-time we had a schedule. The dogs went to the groomer every six weeks for a bath, haircut, and nail trim. They are small and the cost seemed minimal to let someone else do it for me.

Since moving into the RV in April 2022, we have been winging it. Every once in a while we take them to a groomer we happen to find in the area or a nearby Petco store.

The last time they saw a groomer was in Dunnellon, Florida in December. Today is February 14 and their nails are driving us nuts, with the constant clip-clopping across the floor. I know they need trimmed but there is no one around for about 100 miles.

I can do this.

I have dog nail clippers and a nail buffer. What I don’t have is a set of hair/fur clippers yet. But I bet for the cost of two grooming sessions I can buy my own dog fur clippers.

Learning to do this myself will save us a lot of money. First thing is to give them a bath. We have dog shampoo we kept from living in the house. Bath time is no problem. They actually like getting scrubbed and scratched.

OK, so they are clean and dry and all settled down from their baths.
