Saving money on prescriptions

I have been told many times to sign up for the GoodRX prescription saving plan. I am mostly skeptical of plans that are supposed to save me money. Nothing in this world is free.

We had to sign up for a new insurance plan through the marketplace here at the end of the year and although our premium went down a little, the price of our prescriptions went up a lot.

One medicine that I was paying $20 per month for went up to $116 per month. I will have to do without it at that price, but this is a medicine that prevents my heart from beating so fast. A combination of high blood pressure, panic attacks, and anxiety.

Without it, I can feel my heart beat fast and I can barely function or do anything. Of course, I could always research some cheaper medicines, but that would require a visit to the doctor and probably some blood work. My doctor is in Ohio and I am currently in Alabama.

I broke down and Googled “GoodRX” and went to the website. I was surprised to discover that there is a free option to sign up and not pay any kind of monthly premium.

I signed up, created a new account, and began searching for all my medications. I was able to download a prescription-saving coupon for three of my current medications and saved almost $120…
