Fixing a Shredded Serpentine Belt in the RV

We have been fortunate with all the driving and traveling we do that nothing major has ever happened. Oh, we have had our share of small hiccups and issues, but good fortune has definitely been with us.
When we left Loyola Beach, Texas at the end of January to drive to Big Bend National Park, the RV made a loud noise while we were still in the parking lot. Rich got under the hood and found a partially shredded belt. He pulled the shredded part out of the engine.
Not knowing that much about RV engines, after he took out the shredded part he tried to start the motorhome and it ran fine. Maybe it was just an air conditioning belt or something, he thought, cause it is running fine now.
“I’ll check it out when we get to Big Bend and fix it there,” he said.
After we got here, we got busy sightseeing and forgot about it. Today (02/18/23) we remembered that we only have ten more days here before we head to Carlsbad, New Mexico for our next adventure in March. Rich remembered that he wanted to get under the hood and check out that belt issue.
He came back in with the news that there is only one belt in the engine and it is the serpentine belt that runs everything and it is only half there. The shredded part he pulled out was…
