A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author’s ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space.

I have always struggled to write fiction. Don’t get me wrong, I have written a lot of fiction over the years, but I always struggle with it.

I prefer to write my travel and personal blog articles. Writing about the places we go and the things we see comes easy for me.

Participating in the Fiction Shorts Random Word Drabble Challenge every day has inspired me to write more short fiction. Having a word given to me sparks ideas.

I write down what comes to mind and then check the word count. If you don’t know how to check your word count in Medium, it’s easy. Just highlight the story only, not the title or subtitle, and immediately look up in the top left corner and it will show your word count. Be quick…
