Today we drove three hours across the state of Ohio to explore Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Cleveland. We have both lived in Northwest Ohio most of our lives and had never been to this park in Northeast Ohio.

Highway 30 east across mid-Ohio is a beautiful drive. In July the corn in the fields is knee-high and the tan white-tailed deer can be seen standing in the fields above the stalks of green.

They also cross the road in front of you so it is wise to keep your eyes on the road.

Highway 30 passes through Mansfield, Ohio and near the Ohio State Reformatory. If you ever have the time to travel the Shawshank Redemption Movie site trail in Mansfield, it is worth the time. We did this years ago.

Thunderstorms threatened our day trip to Cuyahoga, but I already purchased first class tickets for a two-hour train ride through the park. Rain or shine didn’t bother me.
