We are out of towners and are not familiar with the way people might do things down here in southern Texas. We are from Ohio.

Yesterday we were driving clear down south by the border. We were on a highway with a 75 mph speed limit. Rich had his cruise set at 76.

A vehicle behind him kept flashing its lights at him. I watched. Bright, dim, bright, dim, bright dim. Then a few seconds later it did it again, and again, and again.

At first we wondered if anything could be wrong with our car. Rich checked all the dash signals. Everything was fine. It was daylight so it didn’t have anything to do with our tail lights not working.

I have heard mention of criminals trying to get people to pull their cars over so they can rob them. These people can see that our license plate says Ohio. We weren’t taking any chances. We ignored the car and kept going. Soon as we got to our destination, we checked the tail lights and brake lights. Everything worked fine.

If this car just wanted to get by us, or something like that, too bad.

I’d rather be safe than sorry.
