First of all, who was Selena Quintanilla-Perez? She was a Latin-American singing star. I did not listen to her music in the 90’s but I knew who she was. I remember hearing about her murder on the news. Killed by the woman who was the president of her fan club. Another tragic end of a life taken too soon.

She was born in Texas in 1971 and died in Corpus Christi in 1995 at the age of only 23.

There are two of her songs that are the most memorable — “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” and “Como La Flor.” They are the only two I know. Have you watched the new Selena series on Netflix? Or the 1997 J-Lo film about her life? If you have then you know who she was.

We were in Corpus Christi today on Ocean Drive and her gravesite was only one block over. It is located in the cemetery of the Seaside Funeral Home and Memorial Park. It is open to the public every day when the cemetery is open. I wanted to stop and see it and pay my respects.
